THIS PRODUCTION OF THE WOLVES HAPPENED ONLINE, WHICH GAVE US A LOT OF UNIQUE CHALLENGES. OUR FOCUS FOR THIS SHOW WAS MAKING SURE THAT THE ACTORS COULD BE CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD, EVEN WHEN THERE WAS OVERLAPPING DIALOGUE. TO ACHIEVE THIS, WE HAD ALL OF THE ACTORS WEAR LAVALIER MICS, AND WE USED THE PROGRAM DISCORD TO STREAM THE ACTOR'S VOCALS SEPARATE FROM THE ACTOR'S VIDEO, WHICH WE STREAMED THROUGH ZOOM.

SUCH A BIG PART OF THE EXPERIENCE OF SEEING A SHOW IS THE ASPECT OF COMMUNITY. THIS IS ALSO A KEY PART OF THE CULTURE OF SPORTS, AND SINCE THIS SHOW WAS ON ZOOM, WE WANTED TO FIND A WAY TO INCORPORATE THAT FEELING OF COMMUNITY BACK INTO OUR SHOW. FOR OUR PRESHOW, WE USED AMBIENT SOUND FROM AN INDOOR SPORTS GAME TO INTRODUCE THE AUDIENCE TO THE WORLD OF THE SHOW, AND TO MIMIC THE SOUND OF A LIVE SHOW OR SPORTS EVENT. YOU CAN HEAR THE PRESHOW SOUND ABOVE.

OUR DIRECTOR, REBECCA MAY FLOWERS, FELT A STRONG CONNECTION BETWEEN THIS SCRIPT AND MAX RICHTER'S VERSION OF SPRING 1. WE DECIDED TO PULL ALL OF OUR TRANSITION MUSIC FROM MAX RICHTER'S RECOMPOSITION OF VIVALDI'S FOUR SEASONS, SO THAT AS THE GIRLS GREW OVER THE COURSE OF THE PLAY, THE SEASONS PROGRESSED WITH THEM. YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE SONGS WE CHOSE IN ORDER ABOVE.
